Bridgeport Islanders News Release

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, were shutout 3-0 on the road by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Wednesday despite a 32-save effort by their goaltender Wade Dubielewicz.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton led 1-0 after one period of play on a five-on-three, power-play goal by Maxime Talbot, his fourth marker of the season, with four seconds left on the two-man advantage and 2:39 left in the frame. Kris Beech, who took the shot Talbot redirected, and Chris Kelleher, who made the pass Beech one-timed, assisted on the goal.

The score remained 1-0 despite a 24-5 shots on goal advantage for the Penguins through the first 40 minutes of play as Dubielewicz, reigning AHL Rookie of the Year, made two highlight-reel saves. First, he stopped Colby Armstrong on a one-timer from the slot with 5:45 left in the first period. Then, he robbed the League's second-leading goal scorer and Canadian Team All-Star starter Michel Ouellet who was all alone in front of the Sound Tigers net while on the power play with 1:40 left in the middle frame.

Dubielewicz denied Ouellet one more time mid-way through the third period on a series of close-range shots and rebounds, but Ouellet finally broke through with his team-leading 28th goal of the season with 4:24 left to play off an assist from Erik Christensen doubling the lead to 2-0.

The Sound Tigers pulled Dubielewicz in favor of an extra attacker with 1:10 left to play, but Tomas Surovy slid a tough-angle backhander into the empty net for his tenth marker of the year of an assist from Armstrong to make it 3-0 with 20.4 seconds left to play.

Ouellet was the first star of the game, Dubielewicz the second and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netminder Marc-Andre Fleury the third with 14 saves for his third shutout of the season. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play while the Penguins were 1 for 7 and had a 35-14 shots on goal advantage.
