
Sound Tigers Beat Manchester 2-1

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, beat the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Manchester Monarchs, 2-1 at home Saturday night.
Manchester opened the scoring on the power-play when George Parros swept home the rebound of a Mike Cammalleri shot for his 14th goal of the season with Denis Grebeshkov also assisting on the play at the 18:25 mark of the first period.
The Sound Tigers tied the score at 1-1 on a breakaway goal by Nathan Gillies, his second goal of the season, off an assist from Jean Desrochers, his first AHL point, at the 9:29 mark of the middle frame. With exactly five minutes left in the second period, the Sound Tigers took the lead at 2-1 when Barrett Heisten tallied his seventh goal of the season off assists from Chris Campoli and Steve Regier.
Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz, in his sixth straight appearance, made a number of outstanding saves through last two periods, including a big stop on the Monarchs Noah Clarke during a power play inside the final four minutes of the game.
Manchester pulled netminder Adam Hauser in favor of an extra attacker with 51 seconds left to play but was unable to tie the score.
Dubielewicz stopped 40 of 41 shots and was the first star of the game. Barrett Heisten was the second star with the game-winner. Cammalleri was the third star with an assist. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 5 on the power play while the Monarchs were 1 for 5 and had a 41-20 shots on goal advantage. Hauser made 18 saves in a losing effort.
The Sound Tigers will finish the season at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. against the Hershey Bears. The game will be broadcast live at www.soundtigers.com.
