
Ducks clinch playoff berth with win over Admirals

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Dustin Penner scored what proved to be the winning goal in the third period, as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks clinched a Calder Cup playoff berth with a 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Chris McAlpine also scored and Chris Kunitz had two assists for the Ducks, who have won four of their last five games.
Frederic Cassivi, making his ninth straight start, made 29 saves for Cincinnati, which has won its last six home games.
Timofei Shishkanov spoiled Cassivi's shutout bid with a power-play goal with 1:16 left in the third period for Milwaukee, which has lost two straight and four of its last five.
Brian Finley, a first-round pick by Nashville in 1999, finished with 39 saves in the loss.
The Ducks complete the 2004-05 regular season Sunday against Grand Rapids at 5:05 p.m. at Cincinnati Gardens.
