Sound Tigers Add Defenseman Mitchell

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have added Defenseman Kevin Mitchell to their roster. Mitchell is expected to be in the lineup when the Sound Tigers visit the AHL-leading Hamilton Bulldogs tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Mitchell joins the Sound Tigers from the East Coast Hockey League's Louisiana IceGators where he posted five goals, 27 assists, 32 points, a +6 and 93 penalty minutes in 29 games this season. The 5'11'' 190-pound native of Long Island, New York split last season between Louisiana and the AHL's Houston Aeros. He was the ninth pick, 234 overall, of the Calgary Flames in the 1998.

The Sound Tigers will finish a six-game road trip tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Hamilton before returning home to host the Lowell Lock Monsters Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All games are broadcast live on "The ZONE" FOX Sports Radio 1300 and at www.soundtigers.com. Road games are also broadcast on WSTC/WNLK 1400/1350.
