Sound Tigers 2011-12 Regular Season Schedule Announced

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Aug. 18, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the American Hockey League have officially released the 2011-12 regular season schedule.

The Sound Tigers kick off their 2011-12 campaign at home on Oct. 8 against the Portland Pirates at 7:00 p.m. New incoming coach Brent Thompson leads his squad with a five-game home stand from Oct. 28 - Nov. 6, including the first ever visit by the St. John's IceCaps on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3:00 p.m.

"Cool Fun 101", the Sound Tigers annual school day game which stresses the importance of a quality education and its relationship with the game of hockey, is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11:00 a.m. against the Whale. The Sound Tigers in-state rival will also travel to Webster Bank Arena for post Thanksgiving and Christmas contests on Friday, Nov. 25 and Monday, Dec. 26. Both games are 7:00 p.m. start times.

The Sound Tigers begin the 2012 calendar year on Monday, Jan. 2 with a 1:00 p.m. matinee against the Worcester Sharks at Webster Bank Arena. The reigning Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators make their only visit of the 2011-12 regular season later in the month with a 3:00 p.m. game on Sunday, Jan. 15.

The shortest month of the year will be Bridgeport's busiest with eight home games in a 22-day span. This includes matchups with the Whale, Adirondack Phantoms, Albany Devils and Springfield Falcons, all members of the newly formed Northeast Division.

After playing nine of their first 11 games of March on the road, the Sound Tigers return home for a seven-game home stand from Mar. 25 - Apr. 7. The

Sound Tigers will host their second annual "Spring Fun 102" game celebrating education on Wednesday, Apr. 4 at 11:00 a.m.

The 2011-12 regular season concludes with a home-and-home series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, with the Sound Tigers hosting the regular season finale on Sunday, Apr. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
