Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI--Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that the team will open their 2011-12 season on Saturday, October 8th when they travel to Peoria to battle the Rivermen. The team will kick off the home portion of their schedule on Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm against the Chicago Wolves at the Bradley Center. The Ads will play a new 76-game, unbalanced schedule that will conclude over six months later with a visit from the Charlotte Checkers on Sunday, April 15th.

"We are looking for great things both on and off the ice in the 2011-12 season," noted Greenberg, who begins his seventh season as the Ads President. "We look to build on the successes we had last year when we posted the best record in the Western Conference and had more people watch Admirals hockey than in any other season since joining the American Hockey League."

At the home opener, all fans in attendance will receive a schedule magnet of the 2011-12 season, courtesy of Old Orchard Juice and Pick n' Save, while the team's popular concert series and the rest of the promotional schedule will be released at a future date.

Under the tutelage of first-year Head Coach Kirk Muller, the Admirals will play 32 of their 38 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the most weekend games the team has played at home since joining the AHL. Friday is the most populous day for home games with 14, while Sunday is close behind with 12 contests. The Ads will play six times on Saturdays, three times on Wednesdays, twice on Tuesdays and their lone Monday contest comes on December 26.

Because of new league rules that prohibit playing four games in five nights, the Admirals see a much more balanced schedule as they will play between ten and 13 games each month from November through March. The Ads max out at 13 games in both January and February, but also face a daunting schedule at the end of the year with nine games in the first 15 days of April, the third time during the year that they will play nine times in two weeks and a day.

The Admirals have two four-game homestands, from February 26 to March 3 and March 25 to April 1, which are their longest of the season. While they don't have any extended stays at the Bradley Center, the Ads do play six out of seven contests at home two times: October 29 to November 18 and December 18 to January 7. December, February and March are tied for the busiest months at home with seven games each, while the Ads have just two games at the BC during April.

One new team will grace the Admirals schedule this season: the Charlotte Checkers. The AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, the Checkers are in their second season in the league and will make their inaugural trip to the Bradley Center on Friday, November 4, while the Ads travel to Charlotte for the first time on November 26.

A new divisional format in the AHL now sees the Admirals play in the Midwest Division of the Western Conference, along with the Chicago Wolves, Rockford IceHogs, Peoria Rivermen, and Charlotte Checkers. The Ads will play 44 of their 76 games within their own division with 12 games each against the Wolves, IceHogs, and Rivermen and eight versus the Checkers.

Milwaukee will play their remaining 34 games against teams from the North and West Division, which includes every team in the Western Conference except the Rochester Americans. The Ads battle the Texas Stars, Houston Aeros, San Antonio Rampage, Oklahoma City Barons, Abbotsford Heat, Grand Rapids Griffins, and Lake Erie Monsters each four times, while they will have one home-and-home set with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Marlies.

Unlike last season when the Admirals faced a franchise record tying ten-game road swing in November, this season the team doesn't play more than four games in a row on the road until their season-long trip of seven games from April 3rd through the 14th. Not surprisingly, April is tied for the busiest month on the road for Milwaukee with those seven games and they will also play seven away during January.

While the Ads won't be making what seemed to be their annual Thanksgiving trip to Texas, they will still be traveling south that week as they head to Charlotte for a pair of games with the Checkers on November 26 and 27. That game on the 27th is the last time in the schedule that they will have played more games on the road than at home until the final weekend of the season.

The Admirals will start all games Monday through Saturday at 7:00 pm with the exception of Saturday, November 12, which is slated to begin at 1:30 pm. Sunday contests will either begin at 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00 pm depending on the date. Individual tickets for the 2011-12 season will go on sale at a future date. However, season tickets are now on sale, starting at just $145. For more information, or to purchase season tickets, fans can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
