Downey First Player Named to Alumni Game Roster

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, entering their 20th season in the American Hockey League, announced today that former P-Bruin Aaron Downey will participate in the Alumni Game on November 13 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Downey, a native Shelburne, Ontario native, spent four seasons with the Providence Bruins from 1997 to 2000 and split the 2006-07 campaign between Montreal (NHL) and Providence. During the 1998-99 season, he recorded a career-high 10 goals and 22 points en route to winning the franchises first ever Calder Cup Trophy. In 215 career games with Providence, the forward recorded 21 goals, 26 assists and 1,059 penalty minutes.
The 6'0", 200 lb. right wing saw time in 243 NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. In 2007-08, Downey won the Stanley Cup with Detroit. He finished his professional hockey career the following year in 2009, splitting the season with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) and Red Wings.
Over the next month, the Providence Bruins will continue to unveil the roster of players to return to Providence for the November 13 Alumni Game.
