
Soto Homers as Chiefs Fall Sunday

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs tied the game early but ultimately fell to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 7-3 Sunday night at Dozer Park. In going 2-for-3 with a home run, walk and two runs scored, catcher Carlos Soto was named the Pekin Insurance Beyond the Expected Player of the Game.
The Chiefs gave up a two-out single for a run in the second inning before pulling even in the fourth. Soto launched his first homer in a Chiefs uniform with one out in the inning to get the game even.
Wisconsin used three straight hits in the seventh inning to regain the lead against Parker Kelly. The Chiefs got a run back in the bottom of the inning as Wadye Ynfante drove in Soto with a single.
However Sebastian Tabata gave up two more in the eighth as Wisconsin took a 6-2 lead. The Chiefs also scored in the eighth as Brandon Riley doubled, moved to third on a fly out and scored on a balk. Wisconsin tallied the final run on two hits in the ninth.
Parker Kelly (3-4) took the loss as he allowed four runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out five. Tabata didn't give up a hit but did allow two runs on two walks, an error and a wild pitch in 1 1/3 innings. Evan Sisk gave up one run on two hits in one inning of work.
The Chiefs continue their seven-game homestand with Wisconsin on Monday at 6:35 p.m. The broadcast can be heard, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 6:20 p.m. on the Peoria Chiefs Tune-In Page, which is free and also has a free app for smartphones and tablets.
