
Solar Bears Shut Down 5-1 by Titans

Trenton, NJ - The Titans used a two-goal first period to cruise to a 5-1 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears at the Sun National Bank Center on Sunday afternoon.
Just over five minutes into the first period, the Titans struck for the game's first goal. D Marcel Alvarez fired a shot from the blue line that trickled over the line to give Trenton a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 late in the frame until F Jacob Cepis found himself wide open in the slot and snapped the puck into the back of the net for a power play marker with 3:28 remaining in the period.
With a 5-on-3 power play early in the second frame, Orlando was able to cut the lead to 2-1. A cross-ice pass from F C.J. Severyn hit traffic in front of the net and richocceted into the back of the cage at 4:13. A little less than four minutes later, the Titans regained their two-goal edge when F Marcel Noebels finished off a 2-on-1 rush to give Trenton a 3-1 lead after two frames.
The Titans pushed the lead to 4-1 when D Blake Kessel fired a shot from point that bounced off a Solar Bears defensemen and fell into the back of the net 5:25 into the third stanza. F Ian Slater connected for the final goal of the game with 8:46 remaining when he snapped the puck just underneath the crossbar to complete the 5-1 win for Trenton.
