Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors became the first team to defeat the Gladiators when they score first, winning by a final score of 3-1.

Gwinnett laid on 15 shots in the first period but netminder Jason Missiaen was up to the task, denying all opportunities. Greenville only put six shots on net in the first.

The second started off with a Gwinnett goal just 1:18 into the period. Gwinnett had positive signs with a 17-0-1 record when scoring first. Dallas Jackson scored his seventh goal of the season with Jason Clark and Andy Brandy assisting on the goal. Greenville's defenseman Lee Baldwin started the scoring off for the Road Warriors with his first of the season. Andrew Yogan and Jordie Johnston collected assists on the goal. Just 2:54 later Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored a league leading third shorthanded goal and the eventual game winner. Jeremy Gouchie won a faceoff in Gwinnett's zone which Vallerand quickly put past Mike Lee.

Gwinnett had multiple opportunities in the third period but once again Missiaen was up to the task. The biggest opportunity came under three minutes with a Gouchie delay of game penalty. During the kill Bretton Cameron handed his stick to T.J. Reynolds because of a broken stick. The Gladiators had many changes and sustained pressure but Cameron made an extra effort to get to a loose puck and clear it with his glove. Cameron would eventually score the empty netter waiting out a sliding defenseman. Brandon Wong collected the assist on the goal. Missiaen, the game's second star, stopped 38 of 39 shots for his first win in the ECHL this year. Lee was the losing netminder stopping 25 of 27 shots.

The Road Warriors travel to Wheeling, West Virginia on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Games can be heard courtesy of America One Sports or by clicking the Listen Live Link on the Road Warriors homepage.
