Syracuse, N.Y.--The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have decided to give their fans free tickets.

The snow storm that blanketed the Northeast Saturday caused a large portion of an anticipated sellout crowd of 6,230 to err on the side of caution and remain home for its game against the Rochester Americans.

With both teams and the game's officials in Syracuse before the brunt of the snow started falling the club decided to play the game but was aware that due to the road conditions that most fans would decide to stay safe.

"We wanted to reward our loyal fans," team vice president Jim Sarosy said. "In light of the conditions it was the right thing to do."

To show their appreciation for the estimated 2,000 fans who braved the weather conditions, the Syracuse Crunch announced that everyone in attendance will receive one free ticket, per ticket stub for any remaining weekday game in the 2004-05 season.

Those fans that stayed home get their choice of any remaining regular season game in the Crunch schedule.
