Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - In a series that saw a host of impressive pitching performances by Barons starting pitchers, Scott Snodgress may have topped them all, taking a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Barons defeated the Jacksonville Suns 4-1 in front of 3,842 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

For the fourth game in a row, the Barons jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the third against Suns starter Adam Conley (4-2, 4.72). Cody Puckett started the scoring with a solo home run, his second longball in as many days. Andy Wilkins and Michael Earley followed later in the inning with an RBI single and double respectively.

Keenyn Walker would extend the lead to 4-0 in the 5th with a solo homer to left, his first home run of the season. Walker finished 2-for-4 on the day with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Snodgress (6-3, 4.33) would carry a no-hit shutout into the 7th inning before allowing a leadoff single to Daniel Pertusati. A sacrifice fly by J.T. Realmuto later in the inning would end the Barons streak of consecutive scoreless innings at 29.1. Snodgress finished the day with seven strikeouts while allowing just two hits and two walks over 7.0 IP. Snodgress leads the Southern League with six wins on the year.

Reliever Taylor Thompson recorded the final six outs of the game for the Barons, picking up his team-leading 7th save as the Barons improved to 32-18 on the season.

The Barons return to Regions Field for the first time in almost two weeks tomorrow to begin a five-game series against the second-place Tennessee Smokies. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
