Big Inning Downs Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (24-26) scored two runs in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead but the Jackson Generals (22-26) would score the final eight runs including a six-run eighth inning to defeat the Biscuits 9-3 Monday afternoon at Riverwalk.

With the game tied at three, Denny Almonte led off the eighth inning with a home run off of Marquis Fleming (2-2) to give the Generals a 4-3 lead. After a fly out for the first out of the inning, the next five batters would come around to score to break things open. Jackson led 9-3 after the eighth.

The Biscuits broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning. Cameron Seitzer ripped a two-out double to left center to drive in Shawn O'Malley, giving the Biscuits a 2-1 advantage. Todd Glaesmann followed with a double that drove in Seitzer to make it 3-1. For Seitzer, the double was his league-leading sixteenth of the season.

Jackson got one run in the top of the fourth inning to come within a run. Rich Poythress crushed a solo-shot to left center in the sixth inning to tie the game at three.

The Biscuits will open a five-game series with the Mississippi Braves Tuesday night at 7:00 from Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi. RHP Matt Buschmann will get the ball for the Biscuits while the M-Braves will have RHP Cody Martin on the mound.
