
Rickwood Classic Highlights Upcoming Homestand

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons return to Regions Field on Tuesday, May 28th to begin a promotion-packed homestand against the Tennessee Smokies, Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
The homestand begins Tuesday with 50-cent Hot Dog night at Regions Field presented by Kayem Foods, MINI of Birmingham, ALFA and the Birmingham Zoo. Tuesday is also Social Media night at the ballpark featuring fun promotions geared towards Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
On Wednesday, the Barons make their annual pilgrimage to America's oldest in-use ballpark, Rickwood Field, for the 18th Rickwood Classic presented by State Farm Insurance and YP. This year's classic will celebrate the legendary 1948 Birmingham Black Barons which featured a young Willie Mays, Piper Davis, Artie Wilson, William Greason, Jimm Zapp, Johosie Heard and other well-known Negro League stars. Former Cy Young award winner and baseball Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins will be in attendance as the Guest of Honor and will be available for autographs during the game.
On May 30th, the Barons return to America's newest ballpark for Thirsty Thursday at Regions Field sponsored by Miller Lite and Woodbridge as fans can enjoy 16 oz. beverages for only $2.00. The weekend kicks off with Friday Night Fireworks presented by Coca-Cola, Alabama Power and Glowble Lighting. Friday's game will be Halloween in May at Regions Field. Fans are encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween costumes and participate in the Halloween-themed promotions throughout the ballpark. The Emergency Nurse Association will be giving away bike helmets to the first 750 kids in attendance. Following the post-game fireworks show, there will be a Girl Scout Campout presented by Barber's. The homestand concludes Saturday with an Adult Cap Giveaway for the first 1,500 adults presented by Coca-Cola. The Barons will also give away a grill courtesy of All-South Appliances.
