Peoria Chiefs News Release
PEORIA, Ill. - The Beloit Snappers won their fourth straight against the Chiefs, winning 7-3 to secure the series on Sunday.
The Snappers wasted no time scoring in the top of the first. The first three batters reached against Peoria starter Logan Gragg and jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Kameron Misner single. From there, Gragg settled in. He stranded two on base in the first, and put up zeroes over the second and third innings.
In the bottom of the third, the Chiefs broke through and jumped out in front. After a Zade Richardson walk and a Matt Chamberlain single, Masyn Winn grounded to second but a throwing error allowed Richardson to score from second, tying the game at 1-1. Two batters later, Jhon Torres collected his first triple of the season, scoring Chamberlain and Winn.
Beloit tacked on a run in the fourth to make it 3-2. In the sixth, Gragg returned to the mound but after the first two men reached, he was lifted for reliever Jack Ralston. Ralston collected two straight outs before Ynmanol Marinez grounded a curveball into right field to tie the game.
From there, Beloit pulled away. The Snappers scored two more runs in the seventh and Victor Victor Mesa homered in the eighth to make it 7-3, creating the final margin.
The Chiefs are off on Monday. They will return to action Tuesday in South Bend. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
