Beloit Sky Carp News Release
PEORIA, IL - The Beloit Snappers (35-43) had lost the first two games of the series against the Peoria Chiefs (30-48) but rallied to win the next four, finishing with a 7-3 win on Sunday to secure a series win.
The Snappers were the first on the board after three straight singles in the top of the first - Kameron Misner plated Connor Scott. Peoria charged ahead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but that's all the Chiefs would get.
Beloit's offense rose to the occasion again. In the final six innings, the Snappers scored six unanswered runs, including a two-run home run from Victor Victor Mesa, to clinch a 7-3 win.
Beloit's Top Performers: Reliever Remey Reed earned the win with 2 1/3 perfect innings out of the bullpen. Mesa went 3-for-5 on the day with a two-run homer, just his second homer in the Minor Leagues. Thomas Jones also went 3-for-5 and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh. Troy Johnston collected his first multi-hit game since July 10th in South Bend with a 2-for-3 day and two walks. Ynmanol Marinez had a double, sac fly, and RBI single to keep Beloit in the game in the middle innings.
The Snappers head back home on Tuesday to start a new era at ABC Supply Stadium against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the High-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. For more information on tickets or group outings, call our front office at 608.362.2272 or visit SnappersBaseball.com.
