Snappers Squeak out Second Straight Win

BELOIT, Wisc - Beloit was able to squeak out a second straight win against the Kane County Cougars by a score of 3-2, on Tuesday night.

Daury Torrez pitched six scoreless innings for the Cougars until Nathan Dorris came in to replace him. Dorris pitched two innings and blew the save while earning a loss. He allowed three earned runs and finished the night with a 2.70 ERA.

Ronald Herrera had a solid outing for the Snappers as he pitched seven innings and allowed one run. Herrera finished the night with a 2.56 ERA before being replaced by Junior Mendez. Mendez earned the win and goes to 2-2 on the season.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth until Kane County's Shawon Dunston Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Jordan Hankins.

The Snappers got on the board in the seventh inning when Jose Chavez brought in Ryan Huck to score on a sacrifice fly to right field to make the score tied at 1-1.

Beloit added to their lead in the bottom of the eighth when B.A. Vollmuth singled on a line drive to left field to score Boog Powell and Tyler Marincov, making the score 3-1.

The Cougars attempted a comeback by scoring one run in the top of the ninth inning but it just wasn't enough and the Snappers were able to hold on for their second win in a row by winning 3-2.

The Snappers play at Pohlman Field in Beloit against Kane County tomorrow night at 6:30pm, as we try to get three wins in a row and the series sweep against the Cougars.
