BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Lansing Lugnuts (18-18) knocked three home runs en route to wiping out the Bowling Green Hot Rods (16-20), 11-4, on Monday night at Bowling Green Ballpark.

D.J. Davis, Mitch Nay and Derrick Loveless each homered as the Lugnuts tied a season high with 15 hits.

The Lugnuts jumped on Bowling Green ace Jacob Faria (Loss, 2-2) for a pair of runs in the top of the first, and Davis' two-run shot in the second kicked off the scoreboard to stretch the lead to 4-0.

In the fourth, Nay cranked a three-run homer to cap a five-run frame and push the Lansing lead to 9-0.

The Hot Rods chipped the lead back to six, but Loveless hit a solo home run in the ninth to put an exclamation point on the Lansing rout.

After giving up a pair of runs, Shane Dawson (Win, 1-1) settled in to strike out six out of seven batters faced during a stretch in his 4.1 innings.

Starting pitcher Alberto Tirado pitched 3.2 innings and allowed one run on one hit but allowed five Hot Rods to reach on walks.

Shortstop Dawel Lugo had a season-high four hits with an RBI. Nay and Dickie Joe Thon each had three hits for Lansing.

The Lugnuts and Hot Rods play the second in the three-game set on Tuesday night in Bowling Green. Lefty Matt Dermody (1-0, 3.72) will pitch for the Lugnuts, squaring off against Bowling Green's Chris Kirsch (2-4, 5.52).
