Snappers Fall 5-4 in Extras to Bees

Burlington, IA - The Beloit Snappers (21-25) tied their longest game of the season going 12 innings Monday, but fell 5-4 on a two out RBI single to the Burling Bees (22-27). The Bees took three of four in the series.
With two outs down against reliever Ty Damron, Keinner Pina singled home Zane Gurwitz to score the winning run. It was the first time Burlington had led all game and just the second time all season Beloit has lost when leading after eight innings.
The Snappers scored the first two runs of the game, a solo home run from Jesus Lopez in the second and an RBI single from Lazaro Armenteros in the third. They wouldn't score again until the eighth inning on a wild pitch that scored Mickey McDonald.
Jesus Zambrano came on in the eighth with two runners on, letting one score on a sac fly. In the ninth with two outs and two strikes on Bee Jeyson Sanchez, Zambrano surrendered an RBI double to tie the game at 3.
The Snappers got a run in the 11th on a fielders choice from Logan Farrar that scored Armenteros, but with Zambrano still pitching in the 11th, Gleyvin Pineda scored Pina on an RBI single.
Hunter Hargrove went 1-for-4, continuing his hot May hitting. Hargrove has the lowest strikeout rate in all the Midwest League, striking out just 11 times on the season and only seven percent of his at bats. The league strikeout average is 26 percent.
Jesus Lopez has now hit in 18 of his last 22 games, with a .291 batting average, four home runs and 16 RBI in that time. Lopez's homer pushed the Snappers extra-base hit streak to 32 of their last 33 games.
Armenteros hit safely in his 14th of the last 20 games. His season high four-game hitting streak recently came to an end, when he hit .400, two home runs and six RBI.
The Snappers will now head home for a five-game series with the Kane County Cougars, including double-headers on
Tuesday and Thursday's games.
On the rubber for the Snappers game one will be right-hander Xavier Altamirano (2-2, 2.66). First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
