SUNDAY AFTERNOON: The TinCaps jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Lansing only to see the Lugnuts respond with 3 unanswered runs to take a 3-2 lead into the 9th. The TinCaps showed resilience though with 2 runs in the top of the 9th to earn a 4-3 victory.

BULLPEN SUCCESS: The bullpen was key in Sunday's 4-3 win over Lansing with 6 innings of 1-run ball. Since reliever Evan Miller was added to the 'pen on April 23, the TinCaps' relief corps has posted a 3.42 ERA over 30 games. Along with Miller, the bullpen has been by Travis Radke, Caleb Boushley, Jared Carkuff, Jordan Guerrero, and Ben Sheckler with a few changes along the way. Through the first 19 games of the year, the team's bullpen had a 7.47 ERA.

RAPID RISER: Less than a year ago on June 6, 2017, Luis Patiño, at 17 years old, made his professional debut with the Padres, pitching in the Dominican Summer League. Patiño made 4 appearances in the DSL holding a 1.69 ERA before moving to the rookie-level Arizona League. Patiño finished the 2017 season in the AZL, making 9 appearances with a 2.48 ERA. The Barranquilla, Colombia, native was transferred from Extended Spring Training to Fort Wayne on May 16 and is now the youngest pitcher in the MWL at just 18 years old. Patino won't turn 19 until after the season on October 26.

NAILBITERS IN LANSING: All 3 games this series have been decided by 1 run. Lansing won the first 2 games, 5-4, and, 12-11, while Fort Wayne won yesterday's game, 4-3. The Lugnuts also won a 1-run game earlier this season at Parkview Field, 6-5. Through 7 games between the 2 teams, 4 of the games have been decided by 1 run.

FEELING EXTRA: The TinCaps have 19 extra-base hits over their last 4 games. Fort Wayne matched a season high with 7 extra-base hits on Thursday @ West Michigan and again Saturday night. (The team also tallied 7 XBHs on April 13 @ Bowling Green.) Over the last 4 games, the 'Caps have hit 6 triples, 12 doubles, and 1 home run.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 5th in OBP (.419), tied for 5th in walks (34), tied for 4th in runs (34)... Esteury Ruiz is tied for 11th in triples (3).

ADVANCED STATS LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 10th in Line Drive % (26%), and 8th in BB% (19%)... Luis Campusano has the 8th lowest K% (13%).

FORT CONNECTION: Fort Wayne native Eric Wedge who currently serves as Toronto's Minor League Field Coordinator is with the Lugnuts for this series. Wedge, a Northrop High School grad, played in the majors for the Red Sox and Rockies from 1991-94 and managed the Indians from 2003-09 and the Mariners from 2011-13.

ROAD WOES: The TinCaps are 14-11 at Parkview Field this year and 8-16 on the road. Fort Wayne has hit .252 at home compared to .224 on the road. The team actually has a better ERA on the road with a 4.27 mark compared to a 4.52 ERA at home.

THE ROAD AHEAD: The TinCaps are finishing an 8-game road trip after 4 against the Whitecaps, and now 4 against the Lansing Lugnuts. This is Fort Wayne's longest road trip of the first half. The team's longest trip of the season will come Aug. 18-27 when they are scheduled for 10 consecutive road games at Lansing (3), Great Lakes (3), and South Bend (4).
