LANSING, Mich. - For the second time in five games, the TinCaps earned a shutout win on the road. Fort Wayne beat the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays), 3-0, at Cooley Law School Stadium on a sweltering Memorial Day afternoon.

The youngest pitcher in the Midwest League, Luis Patiño, threw five scoreless innings. The 18-year-old from Colombia scattered three hits, a walk, and a hit batter as he struck out four. Patiño threw 75 pitches (49 strikes).

After Patiño, Jordan Guerrero worked two scoreless frames followed by Ben Sheckler, who finished it off with two perfect innings to earn the save.

Offensively, the TinCaps (23-27) scored twice in the third and added an insurance run in the sixth.

The Lugnuts (32-19) committed four errors in the game, including three in the third. Shortstop Gabriel Arias led the frame off with a single. He advanced to second base on an errant pickoff throw by the left-handed starter Matthew Gunter and to third on a wild pitch. Jeisson Rosario then doubled Arias home. Lansing got even sloppier later in the inning as designated hitter Luis Campusano hit a popup in the infield that went uncaught and was then kicked toward left field, enabling Rosario to score.

In the sixth, third baseman Luis Almanzar doubled and then scored on a double from Arias.

Over the last two days-both wins-Fort Wayne relievers have worked 10 innings and allowed just one run.
