Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers fell behind the Beloit Snappers for the fourth game in a row on Friday night a Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Unlike the first three games of the series between the teams, the Rattlers could not rally this time and the Snappers won 3-1 on a cool, rainy night at the ballpark.

Beloit (49-57) scored twice with two outs in the top of the third inning. Connor Scott doubled to the corner in left and Ynmanol Marinez, who had walked earlier in the inning, raced home from first. Scott took third on the throw to the plate and that came into play when Victor Victor Mesa followed with an infield single to score Scott for a 2-0 lead.

Wisconsin (50-55) appeared to have scored in the bottom of the third inning. Sal Frelick was at third with one out when Felix Valerio sent a weak grounder to third. The throw to first was wild and Valerio had reached first with Frelick scoring. However, plate umpire Mitch Trzeciak called Valerio out for interference and sent Frelick back to third base. Wisconsin Manager Matt Erickson had a long discussion with Trzeciak, but call stood and the Rattlers were kept off the scoreboard after Beloit starting pitcher Bryan Hoeing retired the next batter for the third out.

The Snappers added an unearned run to their lead in the fifth inning. Scott singled with two outs. He took second on a wild pitch. A misplay on grounder off the bat of Mesa allowed Scott to score and the Snappers had a 3-0 lead.

The Rattlers scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Frelick, who had two hits tripled to start the frame. Zavier Warren knocked in Frelick with a grounder to third without any issues this time and Wisconsin trailed by two runs.

That was as close as they would get. The Rattlers got a runner to second base in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, but stranded that runner each time. Wisconsin was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position on Friday night..

Bryan Hoeing, who had been named the High-A Central Pitcher of the Month for August by Minor League Baseball earlier in the day, stayed on his roll. The right-hander allowed one run on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts over six innings for his sixth win of the season.

Justin Jarvis, the Wisconsin starting pitcher, set a new single-game high as a pro for strikeouts. He had ten in 5-1/3 innings. Jarvis's previous professional single-game high was five. He only allowed four hits but took the loss.

The Timber Rattlers bullpen of Cristían Sierra and Cam Robinson combined to work 3-2/3 scoreless innings. In the first four games of this series against Beloit, the Wisconsin bullpen has allowed three runs - two earned - over 15-2/3 innings.

Game five of the series is Saturday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field. Nick Bennett (2-4, 4.59) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Beloit has named Eury Perez (0-0, 0.93) as their starter. Game time is 1:05pm.

The Rattlers have been "building" to Minifigure Day all season with special appearances from some special mini-figures and a fun pair of socks to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Children's of Wisconsin.
