
Snappers Drop Two to the LumberKings

Beloit, WI- The Beloit Snappers dropped game two of the current series to the Clinton LumberKings, by a score of 6-3.
In the bottom of the second inning, Steven Liddle hit a solo home run over right field wall, his first of the season.
In the top of the third, Anthony Phillips hit a double down the third base line to left fielder, Nate Roberts. Nate Melendres then singled to center fielder, Jhon Goncalves which scored Phillips from second. Jamal Austin hit an infield single to advance Melendres to second.
In the top of the fourth inning, Ramon Morla doubled to center field. Jabari Blash singled up the middle scoring Morla. Blash advanced to second base on Guillermo Pimentel's grounder to third baseman, Miguel Sano. Dillon Hazlett had a base hit to center field, scoring Blash.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jhon Goncalves walked, then advanced to third base on an error by the LumberKing pitcher, Jeremy Dobbs. Goncalves scored off a line drive to left field by Nate Roberts. Matt Koch advanced Roberts to second base on his base hit, but the Snappers failed to do any more damage.
In the top of the fifth inning, Anthony Phillips blasted a solo homer over the left field wall.
In the top of the sixth inning, Tim Atherton came in to relieve left-handed starter, Steven Gruver, who went five innings allowing four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Steven Liddle reached first base on a walk. Immediately after, Jeremy Dobbs was replaced by David Colvin. Dobbs finished allowing two runs off of five hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Corey Williams came in to pitch in the top of the ninth, relieving Atherton. Atherton went three innings, allowing one hit and no runs, while striking out four.
Corey Williams started the inning with a walk to Dan Paolini. Guillermo Pimentel followed with a single to right fielder JD Williams. Dillon Hazlett advanced the runners to second and third with a sac bunt. Anthony Phillips came up with a liner to center field scoring Paolini and Pimentel.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jhon Goncalves reached first base on a hit up the middle. JD Williams came up with a single through the first and second base gap to score Goncalves.
The Snappers will return to play tomorrow at 7:00 PM to finish up their three-game setagainst the Clinton LumberKings. On the mound for the Snappers is Jason Wheeler. Who sports an 8-3 record with an ERA of 3.61 through 84.2 innings.
