Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Being eliminated from playoff contention apparently didn't sit well with the Snappers' offense, as they exploded for ten runs in their 10-1 victory Wednesday night. Starter Henry Reyes evened his record at 3-3, going seven innings and allowing just one run on five hits.
Kane County scored their lone run of the ballgame in the top of the first inning off Reyes. Todd Johnson hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Adam Klein from third base. Klein's run put the Cougars up 1-0 after the first half inning.
The Snappers then took the lead from Kane County in the bottom of the second inning with two runs on four hits. RBIs from Yangervis Solarte and Chris Cates gave Beloit a 2-1 lead after two innings.
The Snaps piled on five more in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Beloit got their five runs on three hits and one Cougar error.
RBIs from Allan de San Miguel and Yangervis Solarte in the bottom of the fifth inning extended Beloit's lead to 9-1 after five.
An RBI-single from Chris Cates in the bottom of the seventh capped the Snappers scoring frenzy and gave their pitching staff plenty of room to work with.
Danny Hernandez came on and pitched the final two inning of the game to nail down the 10-1 win for Beloit.
Chris Cates, Estarlin De Los Santos, Andrew Schmiesing and Yangervis each had two hits for the Snappers. Juan Richardson and Allan de San Miguel both added three a piece for Beloit who improved to 32-33 in the second half.
