
Bees Rally Back From Three Deficits to Defeat River Bandits

Burlington, IA (Aug 27, 2008) - The Burlington Bees trailed by one run on three separate occasions on Wednesday night and came back each time before scoring two runs in the fifth inning to take a lead. Mike Moustakas had three hits and two RBI while Jacob Rodriguez picked up the win in his first appearance for the Bees.
Quad Cities scored one run in the top of the first to take an early lead. The Bees came back by scoring one run in the bottom of the inning. With one out in the inning, Johnny Giavotella doubled and then scored on a Mike Moustakas RBI single to tie the game.
The River Bandits scored once again in the top of the third. In the bottom of the fourth, the Bees answered once again. Moustakas led the inning off with a double and moved to third on a Jason Taylor single. As Moustakas was holding up at third, the ball was bobbled in the outfield, which allowed Moustakas to score to tie the game. Quad Cities then took the lead again in the top of the fifth by scoring one more run.
The Bees scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to answer Quad Cities and take their first lead of the contest. With two outs in the inning, David Lough walked. Johnny Giavotella then tripled to score Lough, which tied the game. The Bees took the lead one batter latter when Moustakas singled to score Giavotella. Neither teams scored after that.
Kelvin Herrera got the start for the Bees but did not get a decision. In 4.2 innings, he allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Jacob Rodriguez made his first appearance for the Bees and picked up the victory. In 2.1 innings, he allowed just one hit with three strikeouts and two walks. Brandon Sisk pitched the final two innings and allowed just one walk with three strikeouts to pick up his second save of the season.
The Bees conclude the series with Quad Cities Thursday evening at Community Field. Danny Gutierrez is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
