Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Beloit and Kane County went to extra innings for the second consecutive night, this time with the Cougars coming out on top, 3-2. Charles Nolte picked up the loss for the Snaps, allowing the winning run in the top of the tenth inning.
Beloit got on the board first in the bottom of the second on an Allan de San Miguel RBI-single to left. Allan's single scored Mark Dolenc, who earlier singled to lead off, from second base. Mark and the Snappers took a 1-0 lead after two innings.
The Snappers got another run in the bottom of the third on a fielding error from Kane County Justin Frash. Justin misplayed a ball hit by Ramon Santana, allowing Estarlin De Los Santos to score from third base. The error made it a 2-0 Snapper lead after three.
The Cougars then battled back with single runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to tie the game up at 2-2.
The game remained tied until the tenth inning when Kane County would push ahead. Greg Dowling smoked an RBI-double to right center off Charles Nolte to give the Cougars a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning.
The Snappers threatened to tie the game in the ninth as they had Andrew Schmiesing on second base with just one out. Unfortunately, they were unable to get him in as they went on to lose by the 3-2 final.
Mark Dolenc went 2-for-4 with a run for the Snappers who fell to 31-33 in the second half.
The loss by Beloit coupled with the Cedar Rapids win ended the Snappers' second half playoff chances.
