Great Lakes Loons News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Great Lakes Loons, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Dodgers, have announced the addition of right-hander Kieran Mattison to the Loons' active roster. He is scheduled to start Thursday in the series finale against the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Mattison, a former pitcher at East Carolina University, was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2002. He played in the Midwest League with Burlington in 2003. That season, he went 8-5 in 17 starts and a 2.50 ERA. He threw two complete games, one a shutout.

He was traded in 2003 to the Indians with outfielder Trey Dyson for right-handed pitcher Brian Anderson and left-handed pitcher Chris White. He spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons playing independent baseball with Sioux City, Calgary and the Atlantic League's Road Warriors.

This season with the Dodgers' Double-A affiliate in Jacksonville, Mattison was 0-1 with a 9.42 ERA and one save in nine relief appearances.

The Loons and Whitecaps resume their four-game series tonight night at Fifth Third Ballpark. Game time is 7pm. Righty Given Kutz (4-5, 4.52 ERA) will face right-hander Andrew Hess (1-3, 3.36), a University of Michigan product. The game will be carried on the Loons' flagship radio home, ESPN 100.9-FM.

The Great Lakes Loons are the second-year Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. For more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
