
Kane County has forgettable game in Beloit, still can have winning road trip

BELOIT, Wisc. - The Kane County Cougars scored a run in the first inning Wednesday night but never scored again, losing, 10-1, against the Beloit Snappers at Pohlman Field. The Cougars had only five hits and made two errors while their three pitchers yielded 15 hits. The Cougars conclude their eight-game road trip Thursday night and are 4-3 so far.
Todd Johnson brought home Adam Klein with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first against Henry Reyes (3-3), but the Cougars couldn't score again. Reyes pitched seven innings for the win, and Danny Hernandez close it out.
Cougars starter Scott Deal (6-6) allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings, and Brent Lysander gave up three more in 2 2/3 innings. Then Ben Hornbeck made his Cougars debut with two innings and gave up one run, walked none and fanned four.
The Cougars (31-34) play their final road game of the regular season Thursday night at 7 CT when they conclude the four-game series with Beloit (32-33). Scott Hodsdon (5-8, 3.08) is scheduled to pitch against Mike McCardell (9-4, 3.02).
