The Beloit Rotary Club and the Snappers are proud to announce a materials drive for Paul's Computer Institute (PCI) in Bamenda, Cameroon, Africa. The Snappers and Rotary Club will be teaming up to host four different drives this summer right here at beautiful Pohlman Field.
Fans are encouraged to donate the following items in the drives:
- New or gently used books (especially children's books)
- Plus computers (Pentium II or greater)
- Computer accessories
- Cash donations
- Children's clothing
- Sporting equipment
- Hand, garden and building tools
All donations will be shipped directly to PCI, which is directed by retired Beloit firefighter Paul Mickelson.
The materials drive will also benefit clients of the Beloit Salvation Army. Fans are encouraged to also donate new or gently used shoes to be given directly to the Salvation Army. Rotarians on hand at Pohlman Field will also be there without shoes on to try and draw awareness to the cause.
Fans making a donation of any kind will receive a buy-one-get-one-free ticket voucher to a 2008 Snappers home game. All donations will be received in front of the Snappers front gate. Donations will then be loaded into the Beloit Rotary van and shipped to their appropriate destinations.
The material drives are set for the following dates:
- Saturday, May 17th (5:00pm to 6:30pm)
- Friday, June 27th (5:30pm to 7:00pm)
- Sunday, July 20th (12:30pm to 2:00pm)
