In the ballgame, Bryan Augenstein was brilliant on the mound, leading the way as the South Bend Silver Hawks defeated the Great Lakes Loons in front of 3,084 fans at Dow Diamond by a score of 5-1.

South Bend struck first to open the ballgame when the Silver Hawks scored three times via a Mike Mee RBI single, a Sean Coughlin sacrifice fly and Derrick Walker's run-scoring single to make it 3-0 in favor of South Bend.

The Loons got their only run in the sixth when Parker Dalton led off the inning with a triple and scored when Erik Kanaby lined the first pitch he saw into left-center field to make it 4-1.

Brian Mathews led the Loons with two hits in the ballgame.

Augenstein pitched 7 2/3 spectacular innings allowing just one run in picking up the victory improving his record to 1-1.

Daigoro Rondon (2-4) allowed three runs (two earned) in four innings of work in picking up his fourth loss of the season.

The Loons fall to 17-20 while the Silver Hawks improve to 15-21.
