Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs dropped both games of a doubleheader with the visiting Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday evening at O'Brien Field. The Chiefs fell in game one 3-2 and dropped the night game 7-4.

Tommy Pham led off game one for Quad Cities with a solo home run for the second consecutive game. Pham hit Alberto Cabrera's second pitch of the game into the left field berm to put the River Bandits in front 1-0. Pete Kozma followed with a line drive single into center field and stole second to get into scoring position. After Charlie Kingrey's deep fly out moved Kozma to third, Andrew Brown singled down the left field line to score Kozma and make it 2-0. Brown was thrown out by Dylan Johnston while trying to stretch his base hit into a double.

The Chiefs rallied with two outs in the second inning against River Bandits starter Thomas Eager. Jovan Rosa hit a solo blast to left field to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. Dylan Johnston kept the two-out rally going with a double off the wall in right field. Elvis Lara followed with a triple over the right-fielder's head to score Johnson and tie the game. Marwin Gonzalez grounded out to end the inning, stranding Lara at third.

Quad Cities wasted little time reclaiming the lead in the third inning against Cabrera. After retiring the first batter in the inning, Cabrera issued back-to-back walks to Pham and Kozma. Kingrey singled into center to score Pham and put the River Bandits back in front 3-2. With runners at second and third, Cabrera bounced back to strike out Brown and got Paul Vazquez to ground out to end the inning.

In game two, the Chiefs jumped out in front in the first inning against Quad Cities starter Eduardo Sanchez. Cliff Andersen walked to start the game and was moved over on a sacrifice bunt by Nate Samson. Marquez Smith delivered a RBI single into center to score Andersen and put the Chiefs up 1-0. The Chiefs loaded the bases with two outs before Mario Mercedes hit a base clearing double to left to put the Chiefs in front 4-0.

The River Bandits put together their own four-run inning to tie the game in the third inning against Chiefs starter Kevin Kreier. Mike Folli started the inning with a single to center and Pham hit his second home run of the day to cut the Chiefs lead to 4-2. After Kreier retired the next two batters, Brown doubled to left and scored on a two-run shot by Matt Arburr to tie the game 4-4.

Quad Cities broke the tie in the fifth against the Chiefs bullpen. A walk from reliever Steve Vento put Kozma at first. Kingrey drove him home off with a double to left, and a wild pitch from Vento scored Kingrey to put the River Bandits up 6-4. Brown extended the lead to 7-4 with a solo homer. Osvaldo Morales tripled to center on a ball that Andersen lost in the lights but Vento struck out Domnit Bolivar to end the inning and strand a runner at third.

Kreier worked three innings in his first start as a Chief and gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out a pair. Steve Vento gave up three runs in his two innings of work on three hits while striking out one and walking one. Todd Blackford pitched two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out one.
