
Armstrong arrives from Salt Lake; Tobin placed on DL

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce today that RHP Mason Tobin has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 11, with a right triceps strain and that LHP Chris Armstrong has been assigned to the Kernels from triple-A Salt Lake.
Tobin was lifted after 2/3 of an inning at Wisconsin on May 10. In six starts this season, he has a 2-2 record and 2.73 ERA with a complete game and a shutout. In 29.2 IP Tobin's allowed 21 hits and nine runs (all earned) with 11 walks and 14 strikeouts.
Armstrong, 20, was selected by the Angels in the 14th round of the 2006 free agent draft out of Owasso (OK) HS. He spent most of 2007 at Orem where he posted a 2-1 record and 6.80 ERA in 13 games with two starts and one save. In 41 IP, he allowed 54 hits and 32 runs (31 earned) with nine walks and 33 strikeouts. At Salt Lake this year, he's appeared in three games with a 1-0 record and 3.00 ERA in 3 IP.
Armstrong will join the Kernels in Geneva, IL and will be in uniform and available for tonight's 6:00 pm game with the Kane County Cougars.
With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at 25 active players with four players on the disabled list.
The Kernels return home to Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, May 16th to open an 11 game home stand with games against Clinton and Wisconsin.
