Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips closed an eight-games-in-12-days stretch with a victory, besting the Kamloops Blazers 5-4 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Vit Zahejsky opened the night with a one-timer from the near circle 15:07 into the first period to give Kamloops a 1-0 lead through one.
Jordan Keller netted a powerplay goal 5:07 into the second period, tapping in a rebound off the leg pads of Jesse Sanche for a 2-0 Blazer lead.
Caine Wilke got the Tips on the board 6:13 into the second with a deflection off the long shot of Tarin Smith, his seventh goal of the season. Dominik Rymon brought Everett even 10:25 into the period, banking in a Cole Temple feed from behind the net. Landon DuPont recorded his 50th point of the season with a secondary assist on the goal, making him the first rookie defenseman since Scott Niedermayer of the 1990 Kamloops Blazers to achieve the feat.
Rylan Pearce scored his third goal of the season with a wrister from the blue line that bounced off the end boards and caromed off Kamloops netminder Logan Edmonstone into the back of the net with 7:00 remaining the period.
Former Silvertip Oren Shtrom answered back 1:38 later with a deflection in front of the net, tying the game at three through two periods.
Josh Kelly reclaimed the lead for the Blazers 3:33 into the third period, crashing the net to bang in a loose puck off a netmouth scramble.
A Lukas Kaplan backhander 9:13 into the third period would send the game into overtime.
Tarin Smith would bury a powerplay wrist shot 3:52 into overtime to seal the win for the Tips. Jesse Sanche stopped 28 of 32 in the win.
