June 16, 2004 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Aaron Small pitched the first complete game of the season and Matt Padgett hit his third grand slam of the season in the sixth inning to break a tie and lead the Isotopes to a 6-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs.

Small held the Cubs to five hits and one run in pitching the fifth nine-inning complete game in team history and the first since Scott Sanders on July 29 of last season. Small (3-7) scattered five singles in picking up his third win of the season.

With the score knotted at one, Joe Dillon led the sixth inning off with a single and Larry Sutton followed with a pop-fly single that the Cubs lost in the sky. Jason Wood walked to load the bases and Padgett lined a 2-0 pitch over the left-field wall, his 12th homer of the season. After Iowa took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, Jason Wood tied the game with his third homer of the season in the fourth.

The Isotopes move to within 2.5 games of first-place Iowa in the Central Division and host the finale of the four-game series Thursday night, beginning at 7:11 PM. Matt Blank will take the hill for Albuquerque.
