Portland Beavers News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Jason Repko had three hits with three runs scored, and Koyie Hill and Rick Bell each had two RBIs as the Las Vegas 51s ended a four-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Portland Beavers Tuesday night.

The Beavers (31-35) were plagued by three errors in the game and have committed a league-high 80 this season.

It was the fifth time this season the Beavers, who saw a three-game win streak come to an end, were unable to stretch a winning streak to four games.

Tom Farmer (3-3) worked 5.0 scoreless innings in his seventh start of the season, allowing just two hits to the Beavers, who came into the game averaging 13 hits in their previous five contests.

The 51s got out to a 2-0 lead when Bell's single with the bases loaded plated a pair in the bottom of the third inning.

Las Vegas (28-38) tacked on two more in the fifth. Hill hit a sac fly to center to score Repko from third, but center fielder Freddy Guzman dropped the ball for a two-base error. Later in the frame, Luis Garcia singled home Chin-Feng Chen for a 6-0 lead

In the sixth, Hill singled home Nick Theodorou, who tripled, and Chen's sac fly gave the 51s a 6-0 advantage.

The Beavers got on the board in the seventh as Humberto Quintero extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single to score Jose Nieves, who reached base on a two-out double.

Nieves extended his hitting streak to 11 games with two hits on the night. It's the longest hitting streak of the season for a Portland batter.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Bell scored from third on an RBI single to right by Jose Flores.

Guzman, who stole his 14th base for Portland, drove home Alex Fernandez in the eighth to bring the Beavers to within 7-2.

Justin Germano (1-2) logged his shortest start to date in his time with the Beavers, taking his second loss for the team after working 4.1 innings and surrendering four runs on eight hits.

With the loss, Portland missed an opportunity to take over second place in the Pacific Coast League North Division.

The series continues Wednesday night at 7:10 p.m.

NOTES: More than half of the Beavers games have come against South Division teams this season. They are 15-19 against South Division foes ... it was the ninth time the Beavers have had three or more errors in a game this season ... the Beavers failed to hit a home run for the first time in six games.
