Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane Chiefs couldn't survive four third period goals by the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night as they fell to their U.S. Division rivals, 5-3. Los Angeles Kings prospect Jaret Anderson-Dolan scored his first two goals of the season in the defeat.
The Chiefs picked up right where they left off on Friday night against Portland, jumping out to a 1-0 lead at 14:56 when Anderson-Dolan backhanded his first goal of the year past goaltender Beck Warm. Spokane tacked on a second goal before the period closed when Luke Toporowski fired a shot in from the right circle at 18:59.
The Americans answered with a goal at 1:10 of the second period when Parker AuCoin struck on a Tri-City power play to make it 2-1.
Tri-City came out of the second intermission buzzing, notching a goal at 4:40 that pulled things even at 2-2. Anderson-Dolan responded with his second of the night at 7:39, converting on a power play with a perfect shot just under the crossbar.
The Americans came right back with a power play goal of their own as Sasha Mutala found the net through traffic. The visitors took the lead for good on a missed assignment by the Chiefs as Isaac Johnson was left all alone in front and made it count with his sixth of the season. An empty net goal as the game came to a close to pushed the score to 5-3.
Chiefs goaltender Bailey Brkin ended the night with 27 saves on 31 shots faced while Tri-City's Warm was 30-for-33. Spokane was 1-for-4 on their power play chances while the Americans made the most of their opportunities, capitalizing twice on three chances.
