Spokane Chiefs News Release
Kennewick, Wash. - Spokane traveled down to Kennewick on Friday night for the first of two in a row against the Americans this weekend. The two teams will play a rematch in Spokane on Saturday.
The first period would go the way of the Americans. The Chiefs would go on the penalty kill four times in the frame with Tri-City capitalizing once thanks to Jake Sloan. He would add an assist on their second goal from MacAdams before scoring again himself to make it 3-0 after one.
The second period saw the Chiefs bounce back.
Brayden Crampton and Shea Van Olm moved the puck around before a rebound was swatted out of the air by Rasmus Ekström and into the back of the net.
It was goal #13 on the season for Spokane's #13 at 1:55 in the second.
The Chiefs would score again thanks to a deft touch from Chase Bertholet on the power play.
Power Play Berty!
Chiefs move the puck before Feist's long-range effort is tipped home by Bertholet.
Chiefs back within one!
Layton Feist let loose with a trademark blue line blast but it was Spokane's veteran forward who tipped it in for his 18th of the year.
The second period would finish with the Chiefs down one and Spokane would start the third with a power play just a minute into the frame.
Almost immediately the Chiefs turn the puck over at the offensive blue line and the Americans would score short-handed going the other way, making it 4-2.
Later in the period it was Parker Bell who flashed down the ice on a breakaway and netted the fifth goal of the night for Tri-City.
At the 9:11 mark, Conner Roulette took a long pass down the ice, held onto it patiently, before finding Berkly Catton for the crisp finish out front. Weinstein also credited with a late assist on the play.
Roulette with the patience, Catton with the finish!
Any chance of a comeback was stunted by a late Chiefs penalty and an Americans' empty net goal. The game would finish 6-3 in favor of Tri-City.
With their goals tonight, Berkly Catton and Chase Bertholet both have 13 points in the seven games versus the Americans so far this season.
The Chiefs and Americans will face off again tomorrow night at the Spokane Arena for the Numerica Hockey Helmet Bank Giveaway. The first 2,000 fans and all season ticket holders can pick up this special promotional giveaway as they enter the building. Still need tickets for the game?
