Skyforce Take Two in Westchester

January 31, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

WHITE PLAINS, January 31, 2015 - The Westchester Knicks (8-20) suffered back-to-back losses from the Sioux Falls Skyforce (17-11), the NBA Development League affiliate of the Miami Heat, falling 105-80 in Westchester tonight.

Coming off last night's loss, the Knicks regrouped for an energized first quarter. Leading for all but the first three minutes of the quarter, which saw three ties, Westchester out-shot Sioux Falls 23-19. Darnell Jackson picked up where he left off last night as a key contributor for Westchester, producing eight points in the first.

Sioux Falls had a record breaking second quarter with a season-high 40 points. Hitting 8-of-11 from beyond the arc as a team, the Skyforce led by as many as 15 points in the quarter. Former New York Knickerbocker Henry Walker (formerly known as Bill Walker), now forward for Sioux Falls, posted 18 points in the second quarter alone.

Westchester's trouble from the line carried over from last night, the Knicks hitting just 53 percent of their attempts in the first half. Sioux Falls overpowered Westchester from three point land; the Knicks hitting just 14 percent from downtown to Sioux Falls' 60 percent.

The third quarter was a rough one for both teams. Sioux Falls only managed to squeak out 14 points, the Knicks just 15, eight of which came from guard Walker Russell Jr. The Skyforce uncharacteristically went 0-for-5 from behind the arc shooting a measly 27 percent of field goal attempts. Westchester was not much better off at 29 percent, hitting 2-of-6 attempts from deep.

While the Skyforce found their flow again in the final quarter, Westchester did not, the Knicks only hitting eight shots for twenty points. Robert Vaden came off the bench for Westchester, scoring a quick nine points in ten minutes as a lone bright spot for the Knicks. The Knicks couldn't keep a handle on the ball in the final minutes, giving the Skyforce a chance to run up the score, ultimately to twenty-five points over Westchester, the final score 105-80.

On assignment from the New York Knickerbockers, Cleanthony Early recorded a double-double posting 17 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and two rebounds. Darnell Jackson had a team-high 22 points, adding five rebounds and two assists. Getting the start in place of an injured Andre Barrett, Walker Russell Jr. posted 15 points. Rounding out the double-digit scoring, Robert Vaden ended with 11 points.

Henry Walker led scoring on the night with 24 points, hitting 10-of-18 shots, also adding six rebounds and four assists. Scotty Hopson decorated the stats line with 18 points, five rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a blocked shot. A.J. Davis came off the bench to contribute 17 points and six rebounds.

The Westchester Knicks are back in action on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7:00 p.m. to face local standout Sean Kilpatrick and the Delaware 87ers. The game will be broadcast live on MSG 2, YouTube, and AM 1230 WFAS.
