Fort Wayne, IN - Five players with 15-plus points powered the Sioux Falls Skyforce over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 124-114 on Saturday night from the Allen County War Memorial Stadium.
With the victory, the Skyforce (2-2) complete the season sweep of the Mad Ants for the first time since the 2015-16 season. It also marked the first victory in Fort Wayne for Sioux Falls since 3/22/16. Three players also scored 20-plus points for the second consecutive game.
DJ Stewart had 21 points on 9-17 FGA and four rebounds, while Jamaree Bouyea added 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Both players secured back-to-back games with 20-plus points.
Fort Wayne (2-2) took a 39-27 lead after the first quarter. Gabe York scored 14 points on 6-8 FGA to lead the Mad Ants. It marked the second-straight game that the Skyforce won after trailing the first 12 minutes.
Sioux Falls responded with a 41-30 second quarter, where they shot 60 percent (14-24 FGA). 41 points is a season-high for points in a quarter. Landon Kirkwood (career-high 21 points on 6-7 3PA) had 17 points on 5-5 3PA in the second quarter alone to give Sioux Falls a 70-67 lead at half.
The Skyforce outscored the Mad Ants 18-6 in the final seven minutes of play in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. Sioux Falls held Indiana Pacers two-way player Trevelin Queen (31 points), Gabe York (24 points) and Justin Anderson (eight points) to 37.5 percent shooting (24-64 FGA).
In his season debut Dru Smith posted 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Orlando Robinson posted 16 points and nine rebounds.
Sioux Falls returns home on Friday and Saturday for a back-to-back with the Windy City Bulls (3-1). Tip-off is slated for 7:00pm CST from the Sanford Pentagon. Fort Wayne will host the Cleveland Charge (3-0) on November 20 at 3:00pm CST.
