Greensboro Falls in First Overtime Battle

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) -- Despite a valiant second-half effort, the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, fell in an overtime loss of 131-130 to the College Park Skyhawks (Atlanta Hawks affiliate) on Saturday evening at the Novant Health Fieldhouse.

The Swarm (2-2) completed a 16-point comeback in the fourth quarter, capped off by a Mark Williams three-point buzzer-beater, to force Greensboro's first overtime of the season. M. Williams recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 25 points (12-of-23) and 16 rebounds in 36 minutes.

The Skyhawks (2-2) starters led the team to victory with all scoring in double digits. Chris Silva (27), A.J. Lawson (26), Armoni Brooks (23), Malik Ellison (21) and Brandon Williams (16) led the way while Silva (15 boards) and B. Williams (14 assists) contributed extra to push the team to victory.

Greensboro's late-game rally was ignited by an alley-oop dunk by M. Williams from Kobi Simmons in the game's final minutes. From then on, the Swarm kept within six points of the lead before they tied it at the end of regulation. In addition to M. Williams, Greensboro had five more players with double-digit point performances in Simmons (28), Jalen Crutcher (20), Bryce McGowens (20), Anthony Duruji (10) and Jaylen Sims (10).

The game ended when Silva helped the Skyhawks reach the Final Target Score in overtime of 131. He drained a free-throw to win the game in what was the third G League game this season to reach the extra frame and use the Final Target Score.

The Swarm return to the Novant Health Fieldhouse on Tuesday, November 15, at 11 a.m. EST to square off against the Raptors 905 in a sold-out 'School Day' game. This midday contest is sponsored by Novant Health and will be filled with students from Guilford County Schools.
