Sky Carp Win Fifth Straight Game

BELOIT - The Beloit Sky Carp played a complete game in Wednesday's night's 5-2 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits at ABC Supply Stadium, marking the home team's fifth straight victory.

The fast-paced game played in front of 1,212 fans on a picturesque night in downtown Beloit featured big nights from first baseman Marcus Chiu and starting pitcher Luis Palacios.

Chiu got the Sky Carp on the board in the second inning with a two-run blast, and later added an RBI double. Victor Mesa Jr. Added a pair of hits, as did Dalvy Rosario.

Palacios, making his Beloit debut, lived up to his strike-throwing reputation. In six innings, Palacios didn't walk a batter while striking out five. The only damage the River Bandits did against him came on a two-run homer by Luca Tresh Palacios' final inning of work.

Matt Givin and Robinson Martinez each pitched perfect frames in relief, while Tyler Eckberg pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season, with the game completing in two hours and one minute.

The Sky Carp and River Bandits will battle in game three of their six-game series Thursday night at ABC Supply Stadium. It's Thirsty Thursday, with discounted beer all evening long.
