Dayton Dragons News Release
The Dayton Dragons, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Reds, announced the following roster changes today:
Left-handed pitcher Evan Kravetz has been promoted from Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga.
Right-handed pitcher Chase Petty has been promoted to Dayton from Single-A Daytona.
Petty is currently ranked as the #6 prospect in the Cincinnati Reds organization by MLB.com and #7 by Baseball America, which makes him the highest-rated prospect on the current Dragons roster.
Petty was acquired by the Reds from the Minnesota Twins in a trade for Major League pitcher Sonny Gray and minor league pitcher Francis Peguero on March 13, 2022.
Petty was the Twins first round draft pick (26th overall selection) in 2021 out of Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, New Jersey. He was the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in 2021.
Petty has spent the entire season to date with Daytona, posting a 3.18 ERA in 65 innings.
Petty, 19, will become the youngest pitcher to throw a pitch in the Midwest League this season when he debuts with the Dragons.
