
Skeeters Lose Second Straight in Round Rock

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters fell for the second straight night in a 9-3 loss to the Round Rock Express on Friday night at Dell Diamond.
Round Rock jumped out to a prodigious lead for the second night in a row, jumping out to a 7-1 advantage through six innings. JJ Matijevic got the Skeeters on the board in the fourth on an RBI single to score Jeremy Peña. Marty Costes provided the Skeeters' other two runs in the seventh inning on a two-run home run. It was his third homer since joining the Skeeters from Double A Corpus Christi.
Josh Jung struck first for Round Rock on a solo homer off starter Chad Donato in the first inning. Charles Leblanc and Carl Chester each added RBI doubles in the second inning. Donato took the loss and surrendered three runs on six hits, while striking out five, through 3 2/3 innings.
Domingo Leyba hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to pad Round Rock's lead off right-hander Brett Conine.
With the loss, the Skeeters' magic number remained at five games to clinch the Triple A West East Division title.
The Skeeters will send left-hander Jonathan Bermudez to the mound at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday at Dell Diamond against righty Chase Anderson for Round Rock.
