Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees dropped the first game of the homestand to the Oklahoma City Dodgers 12-8 to open the six-game series on Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark.

After six innings the Bees trailed 4-2 and Oklahoma City would add to the total with four runs before the stretch to take an 8-2 advantage. Six consecutive Bees would reach base and score in the bottom of the inning, capped off by a Preston Palmeiro three-run home run to tie the game up at 8. After giving up the lead the Dodgers were able to respond, posting three runs in the eighth and an insurance run in the ninth.

Stefanic raised his average to .346 on the season, moving him to third place in the Triple-A West batting title chase. Salt Lake starter Ryan Smith allowed four runs while striking out eight over five innings in his Triple-A debut, but did not factor into the decision.

The Bees will Go Gold to Strikeout Childhood Cancer on Friday night against the Dodgers. First pitch between Salt Lake and Oklahoma City is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
