Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
TULSA - Josh Rojas clubbed a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning Saturday night, sending the Hooks to a 9-7 triumph over the Drillers.
Corpus Christi (14-14) snapped Tulsa's season-best win streak at five games.
The Drillers (15-12) established a 3-2 lead after three thanks to home runs by Gavin Lux and DJ Peters.
Dodgers top pitching prospect Dustin May fanned the first two batters in the fourth, giving him six strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings. The runs charged to him were unearned.
Chuckie Robinson ignited the fourth-inning rally with a double down the left-field line. May allowed the next three to reach via a walk and two hit batsmen. Abraham Toro gave the Hooks a 4-3 edge with an RBI single into right field. Granden Goetzman coaxed a bases-loaded free pass, ending May's night.
Reliever Luis Vasquez jumped ahead of Rojas, 0-2, but Corpus Christi's first baseman seared a line drive past a diving Peters in right field, clearing the bases for an 8-3 lead.
Ronel Blanco, who relieved Bryan Abreu, earned the win by scattering one run and two hits over 2 1/3 innings. Blanco struck out three.
Lefty Kit Scheetz pitched in with 1 2/3 shutout frames while Osvaldo Duarte added insurance with a home run to straightaway centerfield off former Hook Chris Nunn.
Chris Parmelee made it a 9-7 contest in the eighth by belting a three-run home run down the right-field line.
Carlos Sanabria responded by retiring six of the next seven hitters to end the game. Peters, who represented the tying run, made the final out by hitting a fly ball to the warning track in left field.
Oklahoma native Carson LaRue is slated to pitch for Corpus Christi in Sunday's 1:05 matinee. The Drillers plan to send Yordy Cabrera to the hill.
