Six-run eighth lifts Explorers, 12-11

SIOUX CITY, IA--Six runs in the eighth inning proved to be enough for the Sioux City Explorers tonight as they rallied from a 11-6 deficit to defeat the Saints 12-11.The X's improve their record to 11-7 with the win while St. Paul falls to 9-9.

Dustin Griffith will tally his first recorded win of the season. Pitching just over three innings and 40 pitches, he allowed six hits, four runs and one strike out. Closing for the evening, Sean Kramer allowed only one hit and tallied one significant strike out.

With a 5-0 X's lead in the fourth, the St. Paul Saints torched the board with seven runs in the fifth. Inning contributors included: Justin Hall with a three-RBI double, Jeremy Frost with a two-RBI double, Billy Munoz and Marcus Nettles both contributing RBI singles for the evening. Adding another four runs in the sixth, the St. Paul Saints held a cushioned 11-5 lead.

The X's rally in the eighth included Ryan Gripp with an RBI single, Casey Baker with a two-RBI double in the eighth, Chris Grossman with a crucial two-RBI double.
