Schaumburg Flyers News Release
LINCOLN, NE- The Schaumburg Flyers have named Nigel Thatch, best known as the 'Leon' character in the successful Budweiser television commercials, as their starting pitcher for Friday night's home game against the Joliet JackHammers.
Thatch will make his first career start in the 7:05 PM game at Alexian Field. The right-hander has a 0-0 record and 0.00 ERA in two relief appearances with the Flyers this season. Thatch arrived in Schaumburg for spring training last month to pursue a long-simmering baseball dream.
In addition to the 'Leon' spots, Thatch has a wide variety of acting credits in both the television and motion picture industries.
The Flyers are currently in the final stages of a 10-game road swing. Friday's game will be their first home contest since May 29. Alexian Field is located just minutes west of I-290 & Thorndale at 1999 Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg.
Friday is also Youth Cap Night courtesy of Applebee's as a six-game homestand gets underway in Schaumburg. For ticket information, please visit flyersbaseball.com or call (847) 891-2255.
