Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, Conn -Â The Eastern League of Professional Baseball has informed the Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, that six of its players have been selected to the 2016 Eastern League All-Star Team. Two Yard Goats pitchers (RHP Matt Carasiti, RHP German Marquez) and four Yard Goats position players (OF David Dahl, OF Raimel Tapia, OF Dillon Thomas, INF Pat Valaika) will be part of the Eastern Division squad in this season's All-Star Game, which will take place at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio on Wednesday, July 13th. The six selections from Hartford ties for the most of any club in the Eastern League (Akron and Reading). Each roster consists of 24 players from each of the 12 Eastern League teams.
RHP Matt Carasiti (CARE-AH-CITY) (0-2-22, 2.35) of Berlin, Connecticut leads the Eastern League with 22 saves and 26 games finished. He has recorded saves in each of his last five appearances and has converted on 22 saves in 25 save opportunities. The former Berlin High School star has only allowed two base-runners and no runs in his last four outings (4 IP). Â

He also leads the team with 92 innings pitched and 84 strikeouts. Was first ever Yard Goats to win a weekly honor as he was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week on May 9 after taking a no-hitter into the 8th inning on May 8 at New Hampshire. He is a member of the Colorado Rockies 40-man Major League Roster. Â
OF Raimel Tapia (RY-MEL TAP-EE-UH) (.321-6-23) of San Pedro, Dominican Republic is the Eastern League leader in hits (95) and ranks second in EL with a .321 batting average and third in EL with 296 at-bats. OF Dillon Thomas (.295-2-28) of Houston, Texas ranks seventh in the EL with a .295 batting average which is second best on the club. He also is tied for fifth in EL with 20 doubles which is also second best on the club. Thomas, who enjoyed a 9-game hit streak earlier this month, is batting .337 with 10 doubles and 11 RBI in the month of June. Thomas ripped a pinch hit RBI double to lead Yard Goats to come from behind win on June 22 vs Richmond.
