Romanski, Jerez Selected to Eastern League All-Star Game

Portland, Maine - Catcher Jake Romanski and pitcher Williams Jerez have been selected to represent the Portland Sea Dogs in the 2016 Eastern League All-Star Game in Akron, Ohio, on Wednesday, July 13th.

The Eastern and Western Divisions will each be represented by 24 players, 10 pitchers and 14 position players, who were selected by Eastern League managers, media members, and fans.

Romanski, 25, will be making his first Eastern League All-Star appearance and second in professional baseball after being selected as a 2014 South Atlantic League mid-season All-Star with the Low-A Greenville Drive. The Riverside, California native is hitting .307 (58-for-189) with 11 doubles and 14 RBI in 50 games with Portland this season. Romanski also leads all qualifying Eastern League catchers in caught stealing percentage at .475 (28-for-59). He was selected by the Red Sox in the 14th round of the 2013 June Draft out of San Diego State University.

Jerez, 24, will also be making his first All-Star appearance in professional baseball. The lefty is 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 23 relief appearances this season. He was named a MiLB.com organizational All-Star after the 2015 season as well as the 2015 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year. A native of Santiago in the Dominican Republic, Jerez was selected in the second round of the 2011 June Draft out of Grand Street Educational Campus in New York City.
