
Six Former Steamwheelers saw the field in Week 6 of AFL action

DAVENPORT, Iowa â Week six of the AFL on NBC proved to be another positive week for former members of the Quad City Steamwheelers.
Defensive specialist Brent Browner followed up his impressive AFL debut last week, with another solid performance for the Austin Wranglers. Browner recorded two tackles on defense along with having two receptions for 18 yards on offense in a 64-41 loss to the Indiana Firebirds. His teammate Jamarr Ward saw action as well, recording a tackle in limited action.
Seeing the field for the 5th straight week, wide receiver / defensive back Dennison Robinson helped the Las Vegas Gladiators to a victory with one reception for nine yards and two kick returns for 36 yards. Fullback / linebacker Frank Carter snagged in one reception for four yards and recorded two tackles in the Gladiators 65-64 win over the Arizona Rattlers.
Offensive specialist Ira Gooch and offensive lineman /defensive lineman Tim McGill helped guide the New Orleans VooDoo to a 45-31 win over the Detroit Fury. Gooch had two receptions for 28 yards while McGill tallied two tackles in a win that propelled the VooDoo into first place of the AFL National conference Southern division.

The arenafootball2 (af2) league consists of 25 teams in medium-sized markets with the purpose of training players, coaches and officials for higher levels of football. Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.
Several players have moved on to the NFL from the af2 including the âWheelers standout defensive rush end in 2003, Asa Francis, who last month signed with the Buffalo Bills to play in NFL Europe this spring.
